This is what Rock n Roll is about. The good, the bad and the down
right nasty. Over the years I've heard it all and continue to get a
charge out of people's reactions to Jay Cooper.

Yes it was received last week - it really really rocks ! ! !
If only the radios and MTV would wake up and play it
Review:
The liner notes for Canadian musician Jay Cooper's latest solo album pretty much
sums things up; "The point of my music is simple: straight up, in your face R N R.
Nothing more, nothing less." I could damn near end this review right there, but that
wouldn't be fair would it?
Jay Cooper has one of those voices that listeners will either love or hate, at times
mimicking the 'nails on a chalkboard' delivery of Salty Dog or Blackboard Jungle
and other times displaying a rather unique voice. Some of the vocals are so
annoying though that they imbed themselves into your cranium (like being unable to
turn away from a car crash) - like the "I know" line on "Straight To Hell" and the
chorus of "Dreams Of Freedom".
Overall however, That's Rock N Roll is an entertaining listen, with strong guitar licks
and a party atmosphere. The cover of the Bay City Roller's "Saturday Night" will be
sure to get the ladies bouncing at your next shindig. As for original material, I like
the sleazy "If You Like It Hot", "All About Me" and "Popular". How many people do
you know that could relate to the lyrics of "I thought I was popular, turns out I'm just
a slut"? I can think of a few that could use this tune as their theme song!
This isn't the best CD I've heard this year, but it is fun and doesn't try to be
something that its not. As the final track states, "sounds cliched, but that's rock n
roll".
